Parañaque LGU holds motorcade for National Disaster Resilience Month
The Parañaque City government conducted a motorcade around the city in celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month on Sunday, July 2.
Mayor Eric Olivarez said 200 stakeholders and partners of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), city hall department heads and employees, volunteers coming from different organizations, barangay disaster risk reduction and management council, local police and personnel from the Bureau of Fire and Protection joined the motorcade.
Olivarez told the DRRMO team, under the supervision of Dr. Teodor Gonzales Jr., that their office plays an important role in providing protection to every resident by responding immediately to any disaster like fires, typhoons and others through conducting monitoring activities at their command
centers.
He said the city government is also planning to acquire additional fire trucks, and ambulances for immediate response to residents who are in need of help, and setting up of evacuation centers in every barangay.
The mayor added that the city government is also planning to build a disaster risk reduction and management training center where volunteers and DRRMO staff can hold some exercises to improve their response efficiency in any disaster.
