Over P21.7B worth of illegal drugs seized under PBBM admin, PDEA says
At least P21.7 billion worth of shabu were seized while a total of 44,866 illegal drugs personalities were arrested under the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Monday, July 3.
In a statement released in celebration of the PDEA’s 21st Anniversary, it stated that those arrested include a total of 3,169 persons who are included in the high-value target list of various anti-narcotics agencies.
The figures cover July 1, 2022 to April 30 operations this year.
Of the P21.7 billion worth of illegal drugs seized, PDEA said almost 3,000 kilos of them are shabu while almost 2,500 kilos are marijuana. The rest are ecstasy and cocaine.
The statement also revealed that only 8,332 of the more than 42,000 barangays in the country are considered as illegal drugs-affected areas.
PDEA is the lead agency in the conduct of anti-illegal drugs operations in the country but is frequently backed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) through various drug enforcement units.
Aside from those confiscated in PDEA and PNP operations, various illegal drugs are also turned over to the PDEA from those that are intercepted in air and seaports across the country.
PDEA’s 21st Anniversary celebration is headed by its Director General, retired police general More Virgilio Lazo, with PNP chief gen. Benjamin Acorda, as the guest of honor and speaker.
