Laborer dies in Quezon motorcycle crash

SAN ANTONIO, Quezon – A 45-year-old construction worker died and his back rider was injured when their motorcycle rammed into a dump truck on the Tiaong-San Antonio National Road in Sitio Baybayin, Barangay Pury, here, on Saturday night, July 1. Police identified the victim as Erwin Manalo of Barangay Behia, this town. Investigation said Manalo overtook the dump truck driven by  Antonio Dueñas Laroza, 51, but miscalculated when he returned to his lane and hit its front left tire. Manalo and his companion, Paul Mhico Cuisi, 26, of San Pablo City, Laguna, crashed and were taken by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) to the Liwag Hospital in Tiaong. The construction worker was declared dead on arrival in the hospital where Cuisi is recovering from injuries in different parts of the body. Laroza was unharmed Police said Manalo was not wearing a helmet when the accident happened.
