It is a 2-0 start for the Cargo Movers in Pool B of the mid-year conference, but not without some stiff challenge from the Cignal HD Spikers in their tight 25-20, 30-28, 23-25, 25-22 encounter on Saturday night, July 1.

“Well, ginagawa ko lang naman ‘yong trabaho ko, so thankful din ako sa teammates ko na hindi ko naman made-depensahan nang ganu’n kung magulo ‘yong blockings,” the multi-titled libero said.

“‘Yong mindset ko kasi sa game na to, alam naming matiyaga rin ‘yong Cignal and magaling mag-distribute ng bola ‘yong setter nila. So, talagang mataas ang porsyento sa atake. Thankfully, ‘yong blocking namin maayos, so nadalian lang ako sa depensa sa likod,” she added.

With the veteran libero’s record-setting performance, Kianna Dy, for her part, led all scorers in the tight victory with 23 points on 20 attacks and three blocks as their duo powered the Cargo Movers to an early lead in the standings.

“Siyempre thankful kami sa win. Babaunin namin ‘yong experience, siyempre every set naman naga-adjust. Babaunin namin to moving forward to the next games,” she said.

It was a hard-earned win for the Cargo Movers as they head to a 10-day break to give way to the country’s hosting of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) men’s from July 4 to 9.

However, it only gets more challenging from here as F2 Logistics will be facing a tall task in also an unbeaten team in the Choco Mucho Flying Titans when it returns on July 11.

With Jov Fernandez, Jolina dela Cruz and Mars Alba in the Cargo Movers rotation, the Flying Titans also boast the addition of beach volleyball star Sisi Rondina’s firepower to the team.
