Building a State-of-the Art MRF, building the future of Batangueños


June 16 marks a remarkable milestone in the future of the Province of Batangas. It was on this day that the construction of a 20,000 square meter Material Recovery Facility (MRF) began. The MRF will house an Automatic Waste Sorting Machine capable of receiving, sorting, processing and storing compostable and recyclable material efficiently and in an environmentally sound manner. The establishment of the MRF facility is in compliance with Sec. 32 of the RA 9003 or otherwise known as “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000”.

“Building this state-of-the-art MRF is our way of forging an iron clad partnership between Wastecon Inc., the City of Batangas, DENR EMB and the private sectors to ensure the protection of public health and the environment through a systematic, comprehensive and ecological waste management as mandated by RA 9003,” according to Peerless Vantage Group President, Andrew Yap.

Chairman Allen Macaraig of the 100% Filipino owned Macaraig Group of Companies (MGC) and Wastecon, Inc. (WCI), also considered the MRF project as a “milestone and the first of its kind in the whole province of Batangas.”

In addition to this, the “Php 200 million MRF is only one among the company’s  Php 8.0B – 5 year waste management pipeline projects nationwide,” said BlueEnviron Director Jan Michael Reyes.

The MGC and WCI Chairman Allen Macaraig is one of the lead visionaries in bringing Peerless Vantage and BlueEnviron to Batangas City in support of the LGU’s environmental efforts of coming up with a solid waste management program  and enticing the business sector to invest and promote the City. The Public and Private Partnership will also generate jobs for the people of Batangas City. With this strong partnership among various stakeholders, the City of Batangas will be in the forefront of providing an eco-friendly, sustainable, and innovative MRF in the country.

“The recent years of experiencing climate change that brought tremendous effects on the life of our fellow Batanguenos calls for us to establish a comprehensive  waste management program. These collective efforts will surely inure to the benefit of all Batanguenos who are known for their courage and resilience,” said Chairman Macaraig.
