Barangay officials in San Agustin, Isabela undergo search, rescue training

SAN AGUSTIN, Isabela - The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) DART-Rescue 831 conducted a six-day water search and rescue (WASAR) training for barangay officials here from June 26 to July 1.

The training is part of San Agustin’s efforts to safeguard tourists visiting the Dimasilong Eco-tourism Park here.

Josephine C. Iquin, municipal tourism and cultural officer-designate, said that San Agustin is expecting about 10,000 tourists by 2024.

For now, she said, the LGU is in the planning stage such as developing the area and conducting the WASAR training courtesy of the provincial government. All these are meant to safeguard the tourists.

Trainees were given lectures and simulation activities on water survival and life-saving techniques, fundamental swimming techniques, rubber boat capsizing and recovery, and one-mile swim.

They learned to manage operations efficiently and effectively in any water-involved emergencies.

Dimasilong Eco-Tourism Park is located just 45 minutes away from the heart of the town.

The park is a haven of natural wonders that beckon tourists with its breathtaking rock formations, crystal clear water teeming with fish, mysterious caverns, and a refreshing ambiance of clean air.
