Councilor Marvin Ong here identified them as Armando Mostoles, 66, and his grandson, Melvin Allagao, 16, residents of  Barangay Apatot, this town.

The two fishermen went fishing on the West Philippine Sea on Thursday, June 29, but failed to return home the same day after their fishing boat had mechanical malfunction.

Mostoles said they sought shelter in floating fish cages at sea while waiting for rescue.

They spent three nights and four days at sea before fishermen from Barangay Apatot led by Celso Quarte rescued them 33 nautical miles west of this town.

To survive, Mostoles said they ate fresh fish and drank sea water.

They were taken to the rural health unit for medical checkup and documentation after they were rescued.
