The event, organized by the Pasig City Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO), aims to celebrate the gifts and talents of children and youth with disabilities. The photos depicting flowers, trees, and natural landscapes seek to capture the youth's unique perspectives and communicate their thoughts and emotions through art. "Sana dumami pa ang ibang mga interes ng ating mga kabataan. Ma-explore, makita ng ating mga PWD ang kanilang mga strengths, abilities (We hope the interests of our youth continue to multiply. For them to be able to explore and see their strengths and abilities)," said Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto during the exhibit's opening. "As part of the local government, we want to give them every opportunity and experience that we can possibly give them," Sotto added. The public may visit the exhibit at the city hall lobby until Friday, July 21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week is celebrated annually every third week of July in accordance with Proclamation No. 1870, series of 1979. This year it is being held from July 17 to 23. It was established to raise awareness on the struggles and issues faced by persons with disabilities (PWDs) and to compel the government and private sector to actively engage with the PWD community. This year’s theme is “Aksesibilidad at Karapatan ng mga Taong may Kapansanan: Daan Tungo sa Sustenableng Kinabukasan na Walang Maiiwan (Accessibility and Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Road to a Sustainable Future Where No One is Left Behind).” Among the activities lined up by PDAO for the week are a seminar tackling coping skills for parents with children with disabilities on July 20, in partnership with the Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled; and a psychological assessment and awareness program from July 21 to 22, in collaboration with a the Philippine Psychological Association (PPA). A "PWDs Got Talent" show will also be held at the Tanghalang Pasigueño on July 22. PDAO Head Helen Carmona encouraged the public to participate and show their support to the office's activities. Sotto affirmed the local government's commitment to inclusive initiatives and policies for PWDs in the city. "Kailangan siguraduhin natin na ang Pasig ay PWD-friendly, proactive ang mga programa natin pati sa mga information, education campaigns natin. Dapat naiintindihan ng bawat Pasigueño ang mga ginagawa natin para sa mga PWDs (We need to make sure that Pasig is PWD-friendly wherein our programs are proactive as well as our information and education campaigns. Every Pasigueño needs to understand all that we are doing for our PWDs)," the mayor said. "Sisiguraduhin din natin na lahat ng bagong pasilidad ay PWD-friendly (We will ensure that all our new facilities are PWD-friendly)," he added.
