Mega job, trade, cooperative fair opens in Pasig City

An all-in-one mega job, trade, and cooperative fair was launched in Pasig City on Tuesday, July 18, to provide opportunities for Pasigueno jobseekers, support local products, and engage cooperatives with the public and various sectors.
Around 90 companies, 35 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), and 15 cooperatives participated in the activity held at the Ayala Malls The 30th.

Job seekers may apply at the job fair from July 18 to 20 (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at the third floor of the Activity Center in the mall. Out of 90, 30 companies were accommodated per day. On Thursday, July 20, the participating local companies will include Fieldmen Janitorial Services Corporation, Eagle Star Industrial Sales Corporation, Home Credit, Insight, Offshore Business Processing, GE Appliances, Excel Pro, Nippon Sanso Ingasco Inc., Business Innovations Gateway, Manila Hearing Aid, and Human Resource Specialists Corp. The listed overseas agencies for July 20 are Service On Line Corp., Lead Resources Management Corp., Maanyag International Manpower Corporation, Chartreuse Prime Recruitment Specialists Inc., CDK International Manpower Services Corp. and Magsaysay Maritime Corporation. A one-stop-shop was also set up within the job fair area to serve applicants who want to avail of documents from the local police and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance; and register for the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), PAGIBIG, PhilHealth, and the Social Security System (SSS).

For customers who wish to support local products, the stalls of the MSMEs were stationed at the second floor of the Activity Center from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. They will be open until Sunday, July 23. Among the items being sold by the MSMEs were upcycled bags, pouches, and other goods; snacks, organic ingredients, beauty products, leather shoes, craft clothing, and homemade pastries.

The cooperatives’ booths are also open to visitors until July 23 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The simultaneous fairs were organized by the Pasig City Local Economic Development and investment Office (LEDIO), Pasig Public Employment Service Office (PESO), and the Cooperative Development Office. Officials of the local government, Department of Labor and Employment – Pasig, Mandaluyong, Marikina, San Juan (PAMAMARISAN) Field Office, Cooperative Development Authority, and the Department of Science and Technology – National Capital Region (DOST-NCR PAMAMARISAN) graced the event’s opening ceremony. Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said the city is gradually recovering from the economic hardships it, and the rest of the country, experienced throughout the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Sotto emphasized that team effort between national and local government entities, the private sector, and other stakeholders are needed to truly help build up the economy, highlighting cooperatives as the key towards economic growth and economic recovery. The local government is continuing its programs for job generation, employer-employee matching, livelihood development; and financing, training, and capacity building for cooperatives, the mayor added.
