'Logos can't be eaten': Guanzon says P3M for Pagcor logo should have been used to buy rice

When P3PWD Party-list nominee Rowena Guanzon looks at the P3-million logo of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor), she sees thousands of kilos of rice that could have been given away to hungry Filipinos. "Hindi makakain ang bagong nga logo logo (New logos can't be eaten)," Guanzon tweeted Tuesday, July 18. Pagcor unveiled its new blue and red-hued logo during the corporation's 40tth anniversary event last July 11. It has been the barrel of jokes on social media ever since, with netizens comparing the logo to that of an instant noodles brand and a petroleum company. The contract price for the new logo is P3.036 million, with PrintPlus being the contractor. "3M cost ng new logo.divide by P20 bigas = 150,000 poor Filipinos sana may tag 1 kilo bigas (The cost of the new logo is P3 million. Divided by P20 per kilo rice = 150,000 poor Filipinos should have had one kilo of rice each)," Guanzon further wrote. Obviously, Guanzon was referring to President Ferdinand 'Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s campaign promise of reducing the retail price of rice to P20. Rice is the Filipino staple food. House members from both the majority and minority blocs have sought a congressional inquiry on Pagcor's new logo.
