Biazon mourns passing of 3 Muntinlupa students before their graduation
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon expressed grief over the passing of three students in the city before their graduation.
“Graduation season—masaya pero may halong kalungkutan (Graduation season–happy but mixed with sadness),” he posted on Facebook.

Biazon said that in his 22 years in public service, this was the first time to witness students who were posthumously awarded with their diplomas. “Ibig sabihin, nabigay ang kanilang diploma, pero hindi na sila ang tumanggap dahil sila’y pumanaw na (This means, their diplomas were awarded but they did not personally receive it because they passed away),” he said. One of them, he said, was Pauline Tensuan, who graduated cum laude with an Information Technology degree at the city-run Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa. She passed away due to an illness. Her parents were the ones who went up the stage and received her diploma during the graduation ceremony. Two public elementary school students also died before their graduation. Renz Narez, a grade 6 student of Alabang Elementary School, passed away on July 4 while Edcel Gabiana, a grade 3 student of Tunasan Elementary School who completed the level with honors, also died a few days before the ceremony. “Nakakalungkot kasi nagsikap ang mga bata pero hindi na nila nasilayan o naabutan ang pagtanggap ng kanilang diplomas; yung mga magulang na lang nila ang umakyat ng entablado. Sa mga nagsisikap, alam nating napakahalaga na matanggap ang inyong reward, pero in this case, it didn't happen (It is sad because these kids worked hard but they weren't around anymore to receive their diplomas. Their parents were the ones who went up the stage. For those who worked hard, we know that it is important to receive your reward but in this case, it didn’t happen),” said Biazon. He added, “We would like to honor them—ang kanilang pagsisikap. Maging ang kanilang mga magulang at guardians who were always there to support them.”
