REFLECTIONS TODAY
Jesus’ statement comforts us when we have been fighting our battles without any moment of truce or rest. Life is a continuous struggle that can only easily turn us weary. Once we assume responsibility, we pour out ourselves until exhaustion. Such heavy burden of life is relieved by the offer of Jesus to provide us rest in his person. Take time to pray. Take time to be still. Take time to be silent. Just acknowledge that we cannot do everything by ourselves, and that we have to take comfort in the loving arms of Jesus. Learning to pause and to stop ensures us the strength to carry on through the rough roads, and our energies are renewed. Pause and stop. Let Jesus be our rest. Let us be “safe in the hands of God,” advises St. Joseph Marello. Gospel • Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus said: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” Source: “365 Days with the Lord 2023,” St. Paul’s, 7708 St. Paul Rd., SAV, Makati City (Phils.); Tel.: 632-895-9701; E-mail: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]); Website: [http://www.stpauls.ph](http://www.stpauls.ph).
