2 killed, 3 hurt in van-tricycle collision in Northern Samar

TACLOBAN CITY – Two women died on the spot and three others were injured in a vehicular accident on Tuesday, July 18, in Barangay Bayho, Lope de Vega, Northern Samar. The fatalities were identified as Amelia Arnio, a kagawad or councilor of Barangay Getigo, Lope de Vega, and Rosa Galvan, a resident of Barangay Bayho. Initial investigation disclosed that a passenger van driven by Joel Lutao, 44, from Binan City, Laguna, was traveling towards Calbayog City. Upon reaching a sharp curve, the van overshot and rammed into a motorcycle on the opposite lane. Arnio and Galvan died on the spot while three other passengers of the motorcycle sustained several injuries. They were taken to the Northern Samar Provincial Hospital in  Catarman while Lutao was unharmed. He was placed under the custody of Lope de Vega Municipal Police Station for disposition.
