Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has ordered the suspension of classes in all schools in the city on Monday, July 24, to give way to the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
The local government said on Tuesday, July 18, that the cancellation of classes covers all levels in all private and public schools in the city.
The President will deliver his second SONA at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in QC on Monday.
The city government said some roads in the city will be closed during the event.
The list of the closed thoroughfares on the said day has yet to be announced.
Quezon City Police District director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III earlier said that around 5,000 police personnel will be deployed to Batasang Pambansa on Monday.
Continuous anti-criminality operations will also be launched to ensure the safety of the citizens, he added.
Marcos Jr. delivered his first SONA at the same venue on July 25, 2022, following his win as the country’s leader in the May 2022 elections.
