DSWD to re-assess 4Ps members pre-identified as 'non-poor'
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian ordered the re-assessment of beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) who were tagged as "non-poor" under Listahanan 3—a standardized poor household targeting system.
The DSWD said on Tuesday, July 18 that the re-evaluation is a part of the department's efforts to enhance the 4Ps implementation, which aims to eradicate intergenerational poverty in the country.
The Social Welfare and Development Indicator (SWDI) tool will be utilized to assess and monitor the level of 4Ps households’ living conditions.
DSWD uses this tool for case management to measure households' progress in economic sufficiency and social adequacy and improve their well-being.
In order to determine the interventions required for family self-sufficiency, households are classified into three levels using the SWDI based on their degree of economic and social adequacy: survival, subsistence, and self-sufficiency.
While the assessment is being conducted, Gatchalian urged 4Ps beneficiaries to continue complying with the program’s conditions for the benefit of their children and family, not just for cash grants.
Among the conditions include regular school attendance, preventive check-ups for children up to five years old, prenatal and post-natal care for mothers, and attendance to the monthly family development sessions.
Beneficiaries who are assessed to be "self-sufficient" will graduate from the 4Ps program and formally leave the initiative through "Pugay-Tagumpay" graduation rites.
