DSWD program cited for building P55.6-M projects in Iloilo town in 6 years

ILOILO CITY – The Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), the communal development program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), has poured more than P55.6 million for 33 projects in Pavia town, Iloilo province in six years.
The program has built a multi-purpose building or evacuation center, day-care center, disaster response projects, electrification project, drainage canal, road, isolation facility, sanitary toilet, and school buildings.
“KALAHI-CIDSS is one of the contributors to the town’s development,” said Mayor Laurence Anthony Gorriceta who noted that the local government has counterpart funding for these projects.

Two of the most notable projects are the evacuation center and isolation facility in Barangay Cabugao Sur. These infrastructure projects have garnered a national award for Pavia, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Gawad Kalasag for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management. Gorriceta thanked KALAHI-CIDSS for providing residents with work during the construction phase as paid laborers.
