Bohol holds forum for barangay livestock aides in preparation for El Niño
CEBU CITY – The provincial government of Bohol recently conducted a forum for Barangay Livestock Aides (BALAs) in preparation for the ill-effects of the El Niño phenomenon.
A total of 1,289 BALAs attended the forum that was graced by Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado at the Bohol Cultural Center in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
Aumentado said the forum tackled measures on how to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever (ASF) and how to ease the ill-effects of El Niño.
He said the province is strengthening preventive measures against ASF and will continue to find ways to mitigate the El Niño impact.
“I want to thank the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian for being so active in protecting our livestock from the threats of ASF and El Niño,” said Aumentado.

Aumentado said protecting the livestock industry will ensure food security in the province. As a way of recognizing the efforts of the BALAs, Aumentado distributed honorariums and medicines for the livestock of the volunteers. “We have to recognize them because they are the heroes in our community,” said Aumentado. The forum was held a few days after the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) declared the onset of El Niño. PAGASA said the impact of the dry spell would be felt towards the end of the year.
