Apo Agua receives DOH accreditation as water quality analysis facility

DAVAO CITY – The Apo Agua laboratory at the water treatment plant in Barangay Gumalang here has successfully attained accreditation from the Department of Health (DOH) as a recognized facility for conducting water quality analysis.
Apo Agua president Anna Lu said in a statement that this official recognition establishes Apo Agua laboratory as the trusted and accredited laboratory for studying drinking water, ensuring a safe and reliable water supply.
The Apo Agua laboratory consistently performs routine microbiological, physical, and chemical examinations on its water to guarantee the delivery of safe, dependable, and drinkable bulk water supply to the Davao City Water District (DCWD).
According to the company, besides being recognized by DOH for its capability to test beyond the 10 mandatory parameters, its laboratory can conduct other water test parameters set by the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW).
In the laboratory located within the facility, additional examinations, such as heavy metals analysis and other physical and chemical tests pertaining to acceptability, are conducted to validate the quality of the treated water.
Lu said the laboratory, which is run by exceptionally proficient laboratory staff, utilizes advanced technologies to analyze water quality.
She added that the state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and equipment further reinforce Apo Agua's pledge to construct intelligent, groundbreaking, and forward-looking infrastructure.
“The accreditation of our internal laboratory is a realization of our vision of developing innovative solutions that provide people access to life necessities and supports the growth and development of Davao City,” Lu said.
The laboratory has a Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS), a state-of-the-art instrument capable of detecting heavy metals present in the water at very low concentrations.
Apo Agua also received a Certificate of Potability from the Davao City Health Office (CHO). It assures local stakeholders that the water produced from Apo Agua’s water treatment plant will conform to the local and national standards and regulations of water quality for drinking and environmental purposes.
Lu said that receiving the accreditation fills Apo Agua with pride. She added that this significant accomplishment reflects their steadfast dedication to providing sustainable water solutions for generations to come, in partnership with the DCWD and for the benefit of the people of Davao.
“With this, we are also able to provide laboratory services to interested parties,” Lu said.
