Some 504 Navoteño youth aged five to 20 years old participated in the NavotaAs Sports Camp, which opened after three years of hiatus, on Monday, July 17.
The local government said the participants underwent free training in various sport such as swimming, basketball, volleyball, football, flag football, athletics, arnis, judo, karate, taekwondo, and pencak silat.
“Develop your interest and enhance your skills in sports. You might be the next athlete to represent our country in international competitions,” Mayor John Rey Tiangco told the trainees during the camp's opening ceremony on Monday.

It was temporarily halted in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Aside from the sports camp, the local government also supports young athletes in the city through the NavotaAs Athletic Scholarship Program which provides cash allowance, free training, and assistance once they join in various sports competitions.
