PRC clarifies foreign medical graduates' certification


The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Monday, July 17, clarified the certification given to foreign medical graduates of Philippine medical schools.

PRC noted that foreign medical graduates "conferred the degree of Doctor of Medicine by a College of Medicine recognized by the Philippines' Commission on Higher Education (CHED), are eligible to take the Physician Licensure Examination (PLE)."

Thus, PRC said they are "allowed to be registered to practice medicine in the country, this Office is clarifying its Certification dated 30 March 2023."

PRC also pointed out the Republic Act No. 2382 also known as "The Philippine Medical Act of 1959" whereas "foreign medical graduates may then apply to take the PLE and be eligible for registration to practice medicine in the Philippines," PRC added. (Sonny Daanoy)
