Marcos condoles with South Korea after devastating floods, landslides


President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has conveyed his sympathy over the recent floods and landslides in South Korea that killed 39 people.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the people of South Korea for the devastating loss of 39 lives resulting from the recent floods and landslides," Marcos said in a Twitter post on Monday, July 17.

"The Filipino people are with you, offering our steadfast support during this challenging time," he added.

South Korea has been conducting large-scale search and rescue operations after days of torrential rains that caused landslides and flash floods.

According to reports, cars and buses were trapped in an underground tunnel in Cheongju, North Chungcheong province. Hundreds of rescuers have been deployed to rescue people trapped in their vehicles since the weekend.
