Ako Bicol solon shows the 'Will' to make Mayon evacuees happy

If there's a will then there's a way to make evacuees in Albay happy despite being displaced from their homes for many weeks now. Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co took this thought literally as he tapped popular television host and showbiz personality Willie “Kuya Will” Revillame in recent visits to evacuation centers in the province. As the restive state of Mayon Volcano persisted, Co said that the evacuees needed "another kind of relief" beyond food packs, specifically cheers and encouragement. Co said the laughter brought by Revillame was important to help his constituents cope with the difficulties of living in evacuation sites. "I deeply appreciate Kuya Wil's willingness to lend his time and energy to uplift the spirits of the evacuees. His presence brought immense joy and inspiration to everyone," said Co, chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations. "In times of crisis, it is crucial to address the immediate needs of those affected, but it is equally important to provide them with moments of respite and inspiration," he also said. "It is heartwarming to witness how the power of entertainment can create a positive impact on the lives of those facing difficulties,” added the second-term solon. Co led relief operations in Albay from July 14 to15 at four evacuation sites: Gabawan Evacuation Center in Daraga, with 600 evacuees from Barangay Matnog; San Andres Evacuation Center in Sto. Domingo, with 1,588 evacuees from Barangays Fidel Surtida, Sta. Misericordia, and San Fernando; San Antonio Elementary School Multi-Purpose Building in Tabaco, sheltering 500 evacuees; and Bariw Covered Court in Barangay Bariw, Camalig, with 545 displaced persons.
