CAMP AQUINO, Tarlac City – Fifty-five supporters of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) and Communist Front Organizations (CFOs) withdrew their support and pledged allegiance to the government's peace and development efforts as well as to the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) in a ceremony in Barangay Villarica, Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija on Friday, July 14.
The Armed Forces-Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) said on Monday, July 17, that the withdrawal of support was made by members of the Indigenous People KM8 Agriculture Association of Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija, an Indigenous Peoples/peasant organization affiliated with the CTG-linked Alyansang Magbubukid ng Gitnang Luzon (AMGL)-Nueva Ecija chapter.
The surrenderers denounced the CTG and said their surrender is a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of the government to end local communist armed conflict.
The Nolcom lauded the decision made by the CTG supporters.
"We admire the courage you showed and this is the right thing to do. Joining them will benefit no one,” said Commodore Karl A. Decapia, Nolcom deputy commander.
