Intense rains trigger floods in 21 villages in Malolos, Bulacan


Intense rainfall aggravated by high tide caused flooding in 21 villages in the City of Malolos, Bulacan, from Sunday until Monday, July 16 to 17.

The 21 flooded barangays were Pamarawan, Caliligawan, Masili, Panasahan, Atlag, San Juan, Sto Rosario, Sto Nino, Santiago, Canalate, Anilao, San Vicente, Caingin, San Agustin, San Gabriel, Bulihan, Longos, Catmon, Caniogan, Bangkal, and Niugan.

Malolos City Mayor Christian D. Natividad immediately ordered his staff  to distribute food packs to the affected families while the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) closely monitors the rising of water.

Earlier, 213 families in Barangay Catmon were given relief goods.

Also, some villages in other towns also experienced flooding due to non-stop downpour since Saturday, July 15.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said that despite the continuous rains for two days, the water level in Angat Dam has not reached the 200-meter mark.

As of 2:30 pm on Sunday, the water level of Angat Dam was at 179.38 meters, way below its spilling level of 210 meters.

The water level of Ipo Dam was at 100.49 meters (spilling level 101 meters), while the  Bustos Dam at 17.22 meters (spilling level 17 meters).
