* A motorcycle rider died in a road accident in Sampaloc, Manila on Sunday morning, July 16. The Manila Police District's (MPD) traffic unit identified the victim as Mark Jeff Valeros, 35, a joyride rider, and resident of San Miguel village, Pasong Tamo, Quezon City. Authorities have yet to identify the drivers of the white van and the black sedan involved in the accident. According to the initial investigation, the joyride rider was traveling eastward of España Boulevard in Sampaloc around 4:20 a. m. on Sunday. Upon reaching Josefina Street in Sampaloc, in front of Meralco, a white van allegedly hit the victim's motorcycle from behind. Because of the strong impact, the victim fell from his motorcycle. While the victim was lying on the ground, a black sedan allegedly hit and dragged the victim. The victim was dead on the spot due to a severe head injury. The suspects fled towards the east direction of España Boulevard and abandoned the victim. Authorities are still investigating the incident. A follow-up operation is still ongoing for the arrest of the suspects. Police said the suspects will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
