ILOILO CITY – One person died and three others were rescued when their motor banca capsized off the coast of Carles town, Iloilo province on Friday night, July 14.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)-Iloilo Station identified the fatality as 35-year-old Cecille Fuentes, a resident of island Barangay Tinigban.
The victim’s body was discovered near the shore of Barangay Buenavista in Carles on Saturday, July 15.

The Carles Municipal Police Station said they were on their way back to Tinigban Island when their vessel sunk. Lt. Commander Jansen Benjamin, PCG-6 spokesperson, said no other sea mishap was recorded in Western Visayas due to the low-pressure area and stormy weather during the weekend. All sea trips have resumed in Western Visayas.
