The 22-page petition against Mayor Edgar San Luis was filed by Rizaldy Nalo Kalaw, Juanito Ramos Fajardo, and Ernestro Salosa Palomique.

The document was received by municipal election officer Donna Lee Eslit.

They filed the petition against the mayor for  loss of trust and confidence, alleged graft and corruption, flagrant negligence, incompetence, abuse of power, and dereliction of duty.

The petitioners claimed to have gathered more than the required number of signatures to support their request for a recall election.

According to them, they have exceeded the minimum criteria of 15 percent of the voting population, or at least 15,000 petitioners, as specified in the Comelec guidelines on recall elections.

The petitioners asked the poll body to give due course to their instant petition; order the immediate conduct of the verification of petitioners' signatures and thumbmarks, and upon determining that the required number of petitioners have been attained, conduct the recall elections pursuant to the provisions of Comelec Resolution no. 10649 and the other laws and jurisprudence on the matter.

The petition  is the first to be filed against an incumbent official in Laguna with a term of 2022 to 2025.
