Ordinance No. 2023-14, known as "The History and Culture Curriculum Ordinance," will make educational institutions "responsible in teaching or educating the students regarding the history and culture of the city." The schools are required to conduct more activities about history and culture of Parañaque "to increase students' awareness." Resources will be provided by the City Tourism Office, in partnership with the Public Information Office (PIO). The Tourism Office and the PIO are tasked to post videos that will feature the history and culture of the city, including activities related to the events on their social media pages. These materials must be accessible and downloadable for the public, especially by students. Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez said that, through the new policy, students will be reminded of the importance of the city's history and culture. It will also help attract more tourists to the city, he added. Since the ordinance was signed on June 8, the history and culture subjects must be in the curriculum on the following school year, read the ordinance.
