OTS revives 'shoe removal policy' for departing int'l passengers at NAIA
The Office of Transportation Security (OTS) will be implementing a mandatory removal of shoes before entering all the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals to all international departing passengers.
OTS chief Ma. O Aplasca said the policy was already implemented before and will be set up anew as part of the security measures.
The policy, it was recalled, was lifted on December 1 last year to give enough room for departing travelers and their luggage, according to OTS spokesperson Kim Marquez.
“There will be only one security check and that is at the final check right after the immigration area where high-tech X-ray machines, body scanners, and metal detectors are in place to ensure all passengers are well screened,” Marquez said.
She said there are now consultations with airline representatives and various stakeholders in connection with it.
