Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna said on Friday, July 15, that over 600 families in the city received lots.
Lacuna- Pangan vowed to continue fulfilling the dreams of landless Manilans to someday have lands of their own.
The mayor said she plans to distribute 330 more lots to 1,899 families in the city.
The city government said the land distribution strives to prevent informal settlers from occupying private lands.
The local chief executive also said the city government had already finished constructing infrastructures such as "Binondominium" and "Tondominium" to provide shelters to the urban poor of Binondo and Tondo.
She said the two residential buildings were initiated by then-mayor Isko Moreno during his administration.
“Ang matagal na nilang pangarap, nais kong bigyan naman natin ng katuparan (I want to make their long-standing dream come true),” she added.
