BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude-4.3 earthquake jolted the province of Dinagat Islands before dawn on Saturday, July 15.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was recorded at 2:54 a.m. and its epicenter was located 19 kilometers (kms) northwest of Loreto, Dinagat Islands.
The tremor had a shallow depth of only eight kms, Phivolcs said, and was felt at Intensity IV in Loreto, Intensity III in Hinunangan and Hinundayan, Southern Leyte, and Tubajon, Dinagat Islands.
No aftershocks or damage are expected and the Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-Caraga and Dinagat Islands Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported no damage or injury from the earthquake.
