Reigning NCAA MVP Mary Rhose Dapol erupted with a career-high performance to power Foton past Farm Fresh, 18-25, 23-25, 31-29, 25-20, 18-16, for its first win in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League  (PVL) Invitational Conference on Saturday, July 15, at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Dapol exploded for 28 points built on 25 attacks, two blocks and one ace as the Tornadoes finally ended their three-game losing spell for 1-3 in Pool B. Shaya Adorador also pumped in 24 points for Foton, which fought back from a two-set deficit en route to the win. UAAP and NCAA standouts Kate Santiago and Wielyn Estoque paced with 22 points apiece in the losing effort for Farm Fresh, which closed out its campaign with a 0-5 card. Meanwhile, PLDT kept its semifinals hope alive after hacking out a 25-18, 25-17, 26-24 win over Gerflor. With the win, the High Speed Hitters improved to 2-1 in the Pool A and tied with the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in their race for the last semis ticket. Veteran setter Rhea Dimaculangan led PLDT to a balanced scoring as four players finished in double figures. Fiola Cebalos poured all her 13 points on attacks, Dell Palomata had 12 points, and Mich Morente and Royse Tubino added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Alyssa Bertolano was the lone bright spot for the Defenders with 12 points on nine attacks and three service aces. For the third time in a row, Gerflor stayed on the losing side and was officially eliminated.
