Utah Jazz guard Jordan Clarkson showed some love to Kai Sotto following the latter’s much-awaited debut with the Orlando Magic in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas on Friday, July 14.

Moments after the game that saw the 7-foot-3 Sotto tally six points, four rebounds, three blocks and an assist in a little over 13 minutes of action, Clarkson retweeted his fellow Gilas pool member’s highlight reel. “Solid performance. Keep grinding away!” Clarkson wrote. After not seeing any minutes over the last three games, Sotto finally strutted his wares to show his stuff before the watchful eyes of NBA team representatives – all of them trying to dissect Sotto’s every move. The Magic, however, bowed to the Portland Trail Blazers, 88-71. Sotto reiterated his appreciation to his fans. “I’m very happy to be here. It’s a blessing each and every day to be out here and experiencing all of this. I’m just happy to be supported by a lot of people and that’s one of the things I think about every day when I wake up,” Sotto said. “And something to look forward to pushing myself and hopefully I make them proud,” he added. Clarkson’s nice words on Sotto were understandable, though. The two shared the floor in Gilas’ 84-46 drubbing of Saudi Arabia in the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers in August last year. Hopefully, the two will don the PH colors in the coming FIBA World Cup next month that the country will be co-hosting with Japan and Indonesia.
