CAMP GEN. PACIANO RIZAL, Laguna – Police have arrested a suspect in the hazing last February of Adamson student John Matthew Salilig.
Laguna police director Police Col. Harold Depositar, in his report to Police Regional Office 4-A chief Brig. Gen. Carlito Gaces, identified the suspect as “Lester,” who was arrested in Barangay San Francisco, Biñan City, this province, on Thursday, July 13.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Armin Noel B. Villamonte, presiding judge, Regional Trial Court, Branch 155, Biñan City for violation of Republic Act 8049 as amended by RA 11503 (Anti-Hazing Act of 2018).
The court recommended no bail for the suspect.
Lester was listed as the most wanted person on the regional level.
Salilig died in the hazing rites conducted by the Tau Gamma Fraternity.
Lester’s arrest was recorded with the use of a body-worn camera (BWC 15) and an alternative recording device (ARD).
Suspect was also informed of his constitutional rights during his arrest.
He is under the custody of the Biñan police.
