Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents have apprehended a male Polish national wanted in his home country for alleged drug-related crimes.
Mateusz Lukasz Pluta, 27 years old, was taken into custody in the San Juan town of the island province of Siquijor on Wednesday, July 12, according to a BI report.
BI Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) chief Rendel Ryan Sy said that Pluta had been the target of a mission order issued by Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco after the Philippine Center on Transnational Crime provided information regarding his offenses.
He is wanted in Poland for counteracting drug addiction and committing a traffic violation that endangers safety, which violates the Polish Penal Code, the BI said.
Pending his transfer to the BI's facility in Taguig City, the Polish national will be temporarily held at the San Juan Police Station.
Tansingco stated that Pluta will undergo summary deportation proceedings as he has been designated a fugitive by his government.
Once he is expelled from the country, Pluta will be included in the BI's blacklist to prevent his return.
