Police arrests high-profile terrorist in Pakistan's Karachi


ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- Police in Pakistan's southern port city of Karachi arrested a high-profile terrorist on Thursday, an official statement said.

   The terrorist, who belonged to the banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), was arrested by the counter-terrorism department (CTD) of the police on Thursday, the statement released by the CTD added.

   The arrested terrorist collected funds for TTP from the city and provided financial support to the group.

   Police also recovered details of the donations the terrorist received as an operative of the TTP in the city, the statement added.

   The arrested terrorist was shifted to a police station for investigation where he confessed that he used to brainwash people on social media to collect funds.

   Further investigation from the terrorist is underway, the statement added.
