PCG suspends trips of small vessels in N. Palawan due to TD 'Dodong', 'habagat'

* Lt. Junior Grade Niño Angelo Dela Cruz, station commander of Coast Guard Station Northern Palawan, issued a sea travel advisory which temporarily suspended all voyages of small seacraft and vessels with 250 gross tons and below, especially all tourist motorboats. The advisory also alerted larger vessels against big waves. “All small seacraft/vessels are advised to take precautionary measures during unfavorable weather and sea conditions,” the advisory read. The suspension took effect at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, until 4 p.m. Friday, July 14.

Rescue operation

 Dela Cruz said many areas in northern Palawan were flooded due to heavy rains brought by Dodong and habagat. In fact, PCG personnel from Coast Guard Station Northern Palawan rescued several residents of Brgy. Corong-Corong in El Nido, Palawan around 9 p.m. Thursday due to thigh-deep floods. A situation report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) showed that Dodong made its first landfall in Dinapigue, Isabela around 5 a.m. Friday. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 was raised over Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, the northern portion of Pangasinan (San Nicolas, San Manuel, Sison, San Fabian, Pozorrubio, Bolinao, Bani, City of Alaminos, Sual, Labrador, Lingayen, Agno, Binmaley, Dagupan City, San Jacinto, Mangaldan, Anda), and the northern and central portions of Aurora (Maria Aurora, San Luis, Baler, Dipaculao, Dinalungan, Casiguran, Dilasag).
