PIIE congratulated the successful passers of the 13th CIE examination held in April. A total of 262 out of 309 Bachelor of Science (BS) Industrial Engineering hopefuls successfully hurdled the examinations which represented an 84.79 percent national passing rate. All new CIEs will be taking their oath as PIIE members at the 56th General Membership Meeting to be held at the ballroom of the New World Hotel in Makati City. PIIE said that all passers are now eligible to apply for the title of Associate ASEAN Engineer under the Philippine Technological Council (PTC). The PTC is the umbrella organization of 13 professional engineering associations and the body that administers the ASEAN Engineers Registry in the Philippines. With the theme “Industrial Engineers as Business Transformation Catalysts and Enablers,” the event will be keynoted by Roberto Bontia, the chief transformation officer of Metro Pacific Tollways. PTC President Federico Monsada, on the other hand, will serve as the guest speaker. In October this year, the PIIE will also be celebrating its 25th founding anniversary. Set on Oct. 27, the celebration will be marked with a Plenary 18th Congress and 9th Research Conference to be held throughout the day. The 25th founding anniversary celebration will also end with a Gala Awards dinner where individual and corporate luminaries will be recognized for their “shining achievements to promote operational excellence and advocate IE profession and practice.” Likewise, the occasion will also highlight the important role of the industrial engineer mindset when it comes to Digital Transformation, Sustainability, and Artificial Intelligence - three of the most pressing industry trends - given that industrial engineers experience a unique immersion in both the technical and business aspects of the work environment. For more information about the upcoming Plenary Congress, Research Conference, and Gala Awards Dinner, interested parties may reach out to the PIIE Secretariat.
