IT'S THE SMALL THINGS
*“He makes all things* *beautiful in His time.”* That’s a church hymn I learned during my years at the Assumption, and which I have never forgotten. It’s one I sing to myself from time to time, and hum at random. So much so that I never really realized how meaningful and significant the lyrics were until I actually decided to think about it line by line. And what a coincidence that I ended up doing so during a bored moment, in the midst of a tough time. Truly, God has a way of speaking to us, if only we choose to listen. Whether it is through song, through others, or through serendipitous surprises and beautiful blessings, if we pray and keep the faith, He will always send us a reminder that no matter what we may be going through, He is always there. These words have never resonated with me more than when in the midst of trying to endure and survive a most stressful situation: “Lord please show me everyday, as you’re teaching me your way, that you do just what you say in your time.” Little did I know, in my random humming, He was speaking to me. And after a series of unfortunate events, or dare I say seemingly unanswered prayers during the most trying of times, when you expect it the least, the biggest of blessings abound — as if out of nowhere. So much so that you even doubt a moment, are overwhelmed and so overjoyed a part of you is scared to believe. But that is when you are reminded of the fruit of faith, and that prayers are answered not always in the way that you want them to be, or expect it to, but in His way as well. And I end this today in the same way the song I have referenced ends — there really is none. It it is a cycle of hope, perpetuated by faith and prayer. “Lord my life to you I bring. May each song I have to sing, be to you a lovely thing, in Your time.”
