Filipina found dead in Hong Kong pier


A 51-year-old Filipina was found dead in a pier in Hong Kong on Thursday, July 14, Hong Kong authorities said.

A concerned citizen discovered the cadaver of a woman in a corner of Tsing Yi Public Pier at around 6:37 a.m.

Hong Kong firefighters immediately responded to the scene where they recovered the decomposing body of the victim.

Authorities also recovered an ID on the victim. They have yet to disclose if the ID belongs to the Filipina.

Hong Kong investigators said they are still investigating whether the victim's death was caused by an accident or if foul play was behind her death.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong said it is still waiting for the complete police report on the incident.

The Migrant Workers Office said it is already coordinating with Hong Kong authorities regarding the repatriation of the victim's remains as well as assistance for the Filipina's family.
