The Regional offices of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) are on "high alert" as it prepares for the onslaught of Tropical Depression "Dodong."Â
In a statement released on July 14, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian has directed all regional offices to be "extra ready" to respond to families and individuals who will be affected by possible floods and landslides.

"All DSWD regional offices should immediately activate their respective Disaster Response and Management Division-Quick Reaction Teams (DRMD-QRT) and closely coordinate with their local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (DRRMCs)," Gatchalian said. The quick response team of the DSWD Field Office V in the Bicol Region has a Quick Reaction Fund (QRF) or standby fund worth P5,000,000. Meanwhile, there are a total of 129,193 boxes of Family Food Packs (FFPs) amounting to P80,861,982. In addition, the DSWD FO V has already dispatched Non-food items (NFIs), such as sleeping and hygiene kits, worth P120,851,476. In the latest issued bulletin of PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration), "Dodong" was spotted moving west-northwestward with a speed of 15 kph in the vicinity of San Mariano, Isabela.
