5 communist rebels surrender in Batangas

CAMP GENERAL VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Five New People’s Army rebels operating in Malvar and the City of Santo Tomas City in Batangas surrendered to police in this camp on Wednesday, July 12. The Police Regional Office 4-A identified the surrenderers as Rogelio Peolino, alias “Roger” and “Tatay Roger”; Feliciano Magnaye, alias “Balweg”; Teofisto Millera, alias “Pistoy Millera”; Abner Maldia, alias “Abnir,” and Victoriano Maligalig, alias “Eto.” They were members of the Sangay ng Partido sa Lokalidad (SPL) in San Fernando, Malvar; San Vicente, San Juan, and San Jose in Santo Tomas City. The rebels returnees were connected with the Komiteng Seksyon (KOMSEK) Urban Committee with the code name Ultimate Champion of the Sub-Regional Military Area 4-A code name Fannie Mae under the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee (STRPC). Gaces said their surrender was the result of the continuous operational research and target intelligence packet by the Provincial Intelligence Team-Batangas and Regional Intelligence Unit 4-A which led to the conduct of negotiations with the support of the 1st Batangas Provincial Mobile Force Company, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency 4-A, Batangas Provincial Intelligence Unit, Malvar and City of Santo Tomas City police stations, 403rd Regional Mobile Force Battalion, 59th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, Air Intelligence and Security Wing-Philippine Air Force, and Naval Intelligence Support Group- National Capital Region (NCR).
