The low-pressure area (LPA) and southwest monsoon, also known as “habagat,” are expected to bring more rains across the country until the weekend, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Thursday, July 13.
According to PAGASA weather specialist Patrick del Mundo, the LPA was last spotted 295 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon, and has a low probability of becoming a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.
Regardless of whether it develops into a cyclone, he said the LPA is expected to bring heavy rains to parts of Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte provinces.
Moreover, del Mundo said the southwest monsoon, which is being strengthened by the LPA, may also bring scattered light to intermittent heavy rains to the rest of Luzon, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
PAGASA warned of flash floods or landslides, especially in vulnerable areas.
Meanwhile, Davao Region and Soccsksargen will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with some rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA also warned that severe thunderstorms could also cause flooding or landslides.
