Most Filipinos say PBBM must focus on PH economy — survey
A Publicus Asia survey conducted in June has shown that most Filipinos believe that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. should focus on improving the country's economy.
According to the "Pahayag 2023 Second Quarter Survey" results released on Thursday, July 13, 17 percent of Filipinos believe that President Marcos should focus on the Philippine economy above all other macro-issues.
“This finding highlights the significance placed on economic stability and growth by a substantial portion of the population,” Publicus Asia said.

Finding work most pressing micro-level concern
Looking into micro-level concerns, the survey highlighted the difficulties faced by households in finding employment, Publicus Asia pointed out. “A significant proportion of 14 percent identified this as their primary concern heading into the next quarter. Notably, among the 18-24-year-old non-working and low-income individuals, this concern was particularly pronounced, with 19 percent and 20 percent of respondents respectively indicating its importance,” it added. Financial constraints were also highlighted, with 12 percent of participants citing insufficient pay and the inability to afford basic necessities as pressing issues. Moreover, 11 percent expressed concerns about job loss and the impact of rising prices on their ability to purchase essential commodities. The Pahayag 2023, which is an independent and non-commissioned survey, was conducted from June 7 to 12. Publicus Asia said its 1,500 respondents were chosen at random from a market research panel of more than 200,000 Filipinos maintained by PureSpectrum, a US-based panel marketplace with a multinational presence of respondents. The respondents were dispersed across five geographical areas, namely National Capital Region, North Central Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Only registered Filipino voters were included in the sample to ensure that the results represent accurately the sentiments of the voting population.
