Maynilad deploys 10 mobile tankers for Manileños affected by water interruption
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna- Pangan announced on Thursday, July 13, that 10 mobile tankers will be deployed by the Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) in city barangays affected by the water interruption.
"[Kung] bakit po nangyayari ito ay dahil nga po mababa na ang level ng water sa Angat Dam, so kailangan bawasan din nila ang water allocation (As to why is this happening, because the water level in Angat Dam is already low, they need to reduce the water allocation)," the mayor explained during The Capital Report.
In the advisory released by the city government, 466 barangays are affected by the daily water interruption from 7 p.m. to 4. am. starting July 12.
It said the water level in Angat Dam dropped below its minimum operating level of 180 meters.
Lacuna-Pangan said the 10 mobile tankers will be getting water from Maynilad's water pumping stations in Manila.
"Ipagbigay alam lang po ninyo iyong mga barangay na hindi nakapag-ipon. Mayroon po silang mga water tankers na maglilibot para magsupply ng tubig (Just inform those barangays that have not been able to stock water. They have water tankers that will go around to supply water)," she said.
She said the Manila Waters has also coordinated with Maynilad to help in supplying water in the affected barangays.
The local government has also partnered with the Manila Fire District (MFD) and Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) to address the daily water interruption.
Meanwhile, the local chief executive encouraged everyone to conserve and collect water.
She also reminded the public to store their water properly in order to prevent dengue cases from increasing.
