A magnitude 4.0 earthquake hit Davao Occidental on Thursday evening, July 13, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

In the bulletin released by Phivolcs, the tremor was spotted 360 kilometers (km) southeast of Balut Island, Municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental. Phivolcs said it occurred at 11:50 p.m. and has a depth of focus of 10 km. Moreover, the earthquake was tectonic, which means the movement along the fault plane caused it. Phivolcs said there are no expected damage and aftershocks due to this earthquake. *(Sonny Daanoy)*
