As the #Juliever loveteam prepares for the July 26 showing of their first movie together called "The Cheating Game," there's also anticipation off-cam about how Rayver Cruz and Julie Anne San Jose are ready to level up their relationship with a walk to the altar. For instance, singer Geneva Cruz referred to Julie in a recent Instagram post as "future cousin-in-law." Asia's Limitless Star is all smiles and laughter when she's teased about it and called "Mrs. Cruz." "Nakaka-flatter siyempre. Tanungin natin si Ray kung ano ang reaction nya pag tinatawag akong ganon," Julie Anne remarked while laughing during the online mediacon of their movie" The Cheating Game." (It's flattering. Let's ask Ray, what his reaction is if I'm called like that.) "Kung tawang-tawa si Julie, ako naman sobrang kilig na kilig," Rayver replied. " I share ko lang. I mean this all the way. Alam naman ng tao kung gaano ko kamahal si Julie. Kung mamarapatin ng Panginoong Diyos, si Julie naman talaga ang Mrs. Cruz for me," Rayver replied. (If Julie is laughing about it, I am super thrilled and excited. The people know how much I love Julie. If God wills it, Julie is Mrs. Cruz for me.) Both Rayver and Julie have admitted that they are "dating to marry" and they are not wary of "cheating"  on each other. "I believe that a relationship is sacred. I am very secure with Ray because we were friends for a long time, and friendship is the best foundation for a relationship. With some people, they put their best foot forward in the beginning but with Rayver, I don't have to pretend," Julie Anne pointed out. JulieVer first got together performing in shows like Studio 7, The Clash, and All-Out Sundays on the GMA Network. They revealed that they started shooting "The Cheating Game" during the long pandemic and it was here where they "got to know each other very well." "When we were told about the project a few years ago, there was no hesitation on our part. We were very excited to do a film together because (Julie and I) were already very close and napakaganda ng project, kakaiba siya sa title pa lang," Rayver said.
Julie revealed that it was a bit challenging for her as she was also shooting the GMA hit series "Maria Clara At Ibarra" during that time. "Hindi ko alam kung paano ko nagawa pero nagawa ko sya," she recalled. "Tumatawid ako from the set of Maria Clara to The Cheating Game. It was a big challenge for me to switch on and off characters. Nakakatuwa lang din kasi dito ko na-exercise ang pagiging actress. You get to put yourself into another shoes and someone else's clothes. Masaya syang gawin kasi marami kang mai-explore sa sarili mo, marami kang matututunan about the character and it's a very important thing when you're trying to execute something," (I don't know how I did it, but I did. I was crossing between the sets of The Cheating Game and Maria Clara at Ibarra. I'm just happy because I was able to practice being an actress. It's a fun thing to do because you get to explore yourself and learn about your character.) From the trailer, audiences will easily note how Julie Anne figures out in some "daring scenes" which is a departure from her wholesome image. She also hasn't acted on the big screen for nine years. The singer-actress noted that Julie Anne in real life is very different from the character of Hope Celestial that she is playing in " The Cheating Game." "Ang common denominator lang namin ng character ay parehas kaming naloko in our past. May mga struggles, hindi naman nawawala yan...hanggang na-meet ni Hope si Miguel (portrayed by Rayver), Reeling from a bad break-up, Miguel is Hope's green flag guy and Ray is also like that in real life "Julie Anne noted. Rayver declared that he's "very proud and impressed" with Julie's performance in their film. If their fans are seeing them differently from their usual sweetie-sweetie image, "that's because we never stop to learn and innovate in our craft. This is our job as artists," Julie Anne stated. "The Cheating Game" director Rod Marmol couldn't agree more. "I'm lucky that (JulieVer) really studied their materials. My biggest fear coming into the project is that real-life celebrity couples automatically assume that they have instant rapport onscreen. But in reality, they really still have to work for it," Rod observed. "I'm so happy that Rayver and Julie Anne really worked on their characters and they were very aware sila kung nasaang stage na ng relationship ang character nila. Pag kailangan ng kilig, overkill ng kilig talaga sila. i mean, walang JulieVer fan na hindi liligaya sa pelikulang ito," the director assured. Showing in cinemas nationwide this July 28, "The Cheating Game" is the first-ever film offering of GMA Public Affairs and GMA Pictures. It also stars Martin Del Rosario, Winwyn Marquez, Yayo Aguila, Candy Pangilinan, Phi Palmos, Thea Tolentino, and Paolo Contis.
