Here's what Guanzon has to say about logo, slogan boo-boos

P3PWD Party-list nominee Rowena Guanzon has dropped a knowledge bomb on Facebook that seemed directed to those running the Department of Tourism (DOT) and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor). According to Guanzon, logos and slogans don't, matter much in the grand scheme of things. "Kaysa pag aksayahan niyo ng panahon ang mga paandar na logo or slogan na yan Bakit hindi niyo unahin ayusin ang buhay ng mga Pilipino? (Instead of wasting time on gimmicks such as a logo or slogan, why not prioritize making Filipinos' lives better?)" the former Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner wrote. "Dun gaganda ang Pilipinas (That's how the Philippines will improve)," added Guanzon. Guanzon appeared to be referring to recent controversies involving the DOT with its newly-launched "Love the Philippines" slogan-slash-tourism campaign; and Pagcor, with its newly-unveiled logo. Netizens have been endlessly bashing Pagcor's new logo, which has been compared to a school kid's doodle. The logo, designed to the tune of P3 million, was unveiled during the corporation's 40tth anniversary celebration last July 11. Some two weeks earlier, online observers also ridiculed the DOT's new slogan for its similarity to the "Love Cyprus" campaign. If that wasn't bad enough, it was later discovered that the initial promotional video made by DDB Philippines for DOT contained stock footage from tourist sites in other countries. Obviously, this was a big no-no since the entire point of the P49-million Love the Philippines campaign was to promote Philippine tourism.
