Construction of access road to Bucale, Bunggalao Caves in Cagayan underway
Tourists will soon have a more comfortable travel on their way to Bucale and Bunggalao Caves in Santa Teresita, Cagayan.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Wednesday that the access road going to the area is currently being paved by the Cagayan First District Engineering Office (CFDEO).
The P19.5-million project funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2023 will provide comfortable, safe, and convenient experience for travelers visiting the town, DPWH said.
The project has a total length of 1,700 liner meters, 230 mm thickness, and 6.10 meters wide.
Around 45 minutes of travel time going to the area instead of the original more than one hour travel from the town proper will be saved once the project is completed.
District Engineer (DE) Oscar G. Gumiran noted during the groundbreaking that the new tourism road project will have a positive impact on the local economy.
Gumiran is optimistic that the influx of tourists will bring new opportunities for local businesses and communities.
He added that DPWH supports the Department of Tourism in boosting tourism sites through infrastructures and facilities that will improve the experience of residents and travelers.
