BACOLOD CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 (Western Visayas) said two police officers have tested positive for illegal drugs.
In a media interview during his visit to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) on Thursday, July 13, Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, PRO-6 director, said they were assigned to the regional headquarters in Iloilo City and the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here.
VILLAFLOR (Glazyl Masculino) The PRO-6 is waiting for the results of the confirmatory drug test of the two lawmen who were among the 5,694 in the region who underwent drug testing. Villaflor, who did not reveal their names, said investigation will start when there is an official report from the Regional Forensics Unit on their confirmatory tests. “Hindi ito harsh. Ito ay dapat lang gawin (This is not harsh. This is necessary to do),” Villaflor said. He, however, said the punishment will be harsh, and their violation can lead to their dismissal from the police service. Last month, PRO-6 procured 5,000 drug testing kits for personnel as part of their internal cleansing program. This is a tangible way of checking the personnel’s integrity and commitment to duty, according to Villaflor. He said that they have now the records, results, and actions to be undertaken against those who failed to submit themselves to drug test and to those whose result turned out positive. We will implement the highest penalties to those who will fall short of the expectation of the PNP and the people of Western Visayas, he added. Villaflor said that it is his desire to ensure that everyone under his watch is free from any involvement in illegal drugs. PRO-Western Visayas is now almost halfway in conducting drug testing on all its more than 13,000 personnel. Villaflor said that he will continue to procure more drug test kits until all policemen in the region will be able to undergo drug testing.
